The City of Surrey retained Aplin Martin to provide detailed engineering design and construction administration for the construction of 830m of road improvements relating to the construction of the new Surrey City Hall. Concrete medians were constructed on 104 Avenue providing left-turn lanes to City Hall on the south side of the street and future developments on the north. The upgrades on University Drive consisted of milling and paving of the existing road surface, constructing concrete medians with left-turn channels, and constructing 100m of upsized PVC storm sewer. The constructed works on University Drive had to be coordinated with other consultants as the new storm sewer serviced future developments to the west and tied in to the underground parking ramp and concourse level access for City Hall.
The New City Hall project was a high-profile project for Aplin Martin that required a high level of attention to detail during construction. Near the end of the construction period, our construction administration and design teams worked closely with the contractor and City to fast-track construction and ensure the road work was completed in time for the grand opening event.
