As civil consultants for this project, Aplin Martin, completed all civil engineering, stormwater management and erosion & sediment control design work. We provided professional services for the onsite grading, fire prevention, stormwater detention, site servicing and part-time inspection.
The overall site is 0.5 ha including the dealership building with half the site adjacent steep slopes which restricted the building setbacks. Aplin Martin was required to design a flat drive/parking area due to the low ground clearance requirements of the vehicles that will be using this dealership. The Site Grading proved challenging because of the existing steep slopes, flat parking areas and maintaining a functional design without the use of retaining walls. To meet the City and the client’s needs, we were able to utilize surface ponding to avoid using costly underground storage tanks. However, the City required us to create a free flow condition for stormwater conveyance that saw the construction of pin curbing with variable heights.
