Aplin Martin was retained by Glen Eagles Holdings through New Town Planning Services to provide consulting civil engineering services, including a site servicing assessment and preliminary engineering design in support of the rezoning application for the 11 hectare parcel, 77-lot residential subdivision. Aplin Martin also worked closely with the District of West Kelowna to prepare the servicing agreement, including detailed design of the road widening and extension of the municipal road network required to access the site.
The challenging hillside topography required a detailed slope analysis, and 3D modelling software proved to be invaluable in selecting road alignments and optimizing the maximum lot yield. The site is located outside the existing servicing boundaries, so analysis of the downstream infrastructure was required to ensure capacity to service the proposed development. The design of the sanitary, storm and water extensions was also required to service the development and was critical to the successful completion of this assignment. The onsite design is ongoing, and the civil works for the offsite works are funded and expected to proceed shortly.
