As civil consultants for this project, Aplin Martin, completed all civil engineering, stormwater management and erosion & sediment control design work. We provided professional services for the onsite grading, fire hydrants for the fire suppression system, stormwater detention, and site servicing.
The overall site is 14.7 ha and is comprised of three lots, which require the deep site services to be in City of Calgary Utility Right of Ways to service all lots. The site is comprised of the main mall building, commercial buildings, an office tower with has residential units on the upper floors, a plaza mall area and both underground and above ground parkades. The number of existing mains on site, as well as the requirement to keep some of the buildings open during construction were major challenges. The site also had a very low stormwater release rate due to capacity restriction in mains in Crowchild Trail. Underground tanks were required to meet the storage volume requirements. The site also has a large underground electrical vault due to space constraints on the surface.
Aplin Martin worked with the owners, Architects, Electrical, Mechanical and Structural Engineers to ensure deliverables were submitted on time.
