Provided on-site engineering services for a 178 unit multi-family site in the southeast of Calgary. Staff engineers prepared detailed designs of grading, interior road networks, stormwater management facilities and deep utilities. This specific site has a high density of row town homes, which require a detail examination of all aspects of site grading and servicing.
This site included several different unit types, each with specific requirements for grading, as well as a 6m grade change across the site. Aplin Martin worked closely with the architect and developer in the preliminary stages of the project to help develop a feasible site plan that could become serviced without significant cost. Furthermore, Aplin Martin created a Stormwater Management Report following the City of Calgary guidelines for the controlled release rate and onsite storage of stormwater. Oversized pipes were utilized to safely store the stormwater in the event of heavy rainfall in order to prevent surcharging of City owned infrastructure, as the 6m grade change across the site and the long townhouse buildings restricted the amount of surface storage.
